During September and October a collection of photos of notable places from around Birr are being displayed in The Red Apple Café, Mill Street, Birr, Co Offaly. They are all for sale and a percentage of each sale is being donated to Birr MHA by local amateur photographer Emma
Emma chose Birr MHA with a view to heightening positive community awareness around mental health. In making this decision Emma has highlighted that our mental health can benefit from taking notice of the beauty that lies within our community, as demonstrated through this beautiful collection of photos.
Viewing these pictures while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea at The Red Apple can enhance our sense of wellbeing. They can also encourage us to go walk about and explore the beauty of nature and rural walks around Birr. “Éire Álainn” means “Beautiful Ireland” and these photographs represent all the things she finds beautiful about Ireland.
The Red Apple Café are very kindly hosting this display and they don’t ask for any commission as long as at least 10% goes to a local charity or community organization, so along with the excellent coffee and food, they have a lovely ethos of supporting the local community too!
“I’m so delighted to be given this opportunity to share my hobby with others, that I have personally decided to give €10.00 of each sale to the Birr Community Mental Health Association, as so many people, myself included, have been or are affected by anxiety, depression and other mental health issues – be it directly or indirectly and its vital that local community services that support the community at ground roots are supported in any way possible, whether in a small or large way”
