Photographic Project 2012 Winner

Cavan student wins National Photographic Project 2012

Ms. Lauren O’Rourke, a student from Loreto College, Co. Cavan was announced the winner of our National Photographic Project at Trinity College, Dublin, on Saturday, March 31st.  The theme of the Project was Positive Mental Health.  Lauren attended the final and was accompanied by her teacher Ms. Brona Molloy.

photographic winner 2012

Lauren’s photograph was chosen from entries received from second-level students from all over Ireland. The theme of the Project was Positive Mental Health. Sarah was awarded a trophy and a cheque for €250. Lauren’s teacher, Ms. Brona Molloy, also received a trophy.

Lauren’s photograph shows several candles a light arranged in the shape of a smiley face.  The caption on it reads “When you’re in a dark place, your smile is a light”.  The judges loved Lauren’s photograph. The message in it is very simple; a smile is a light even in a dark place and is good for your mental health and well being.
