Expressions Competition for Secondary Students

Mental Health Ireland are delighted to announce that we will be rolling out Expressions next academic year 2018/19.

Expressions is a competition for 4th, 5th & 6th years across the country, run through the schools. In teams of four, students deliver a four minute performance depicting what mental health means to them. The performance takes place at a central location in front of their peers, teachers and parents.

The Expression can be dance, music, short play, spoken work, presentation, song… anything goes! We want to encourage teenagers to explore and express mental health in a way that matters to them.

Wexford Mental Health led with Expressions three years ago and after following their progress and great success with the competition the plan is to roll it out to as many counties as we can.

The feedback from students, teachers and parents has been so positive and the competition has grown year on year in Wexford. Expressions provides an opportunity for students to research and explore what mental health means to them in a way that matters to them.

If you are a student, teacher or parent and would like to see Expressions in your county please get in touch with us at jilloherlihy@mentalhealthireland.ie

We will be rolling Expressions out in a small number of counties in Ireland next academic year with plans to grow this year on year.

Information about how to enter will be sent to secondary schools in selected counties in April next year.
