Mental health is an essential part of our wellbeing, yet it often takes a back seat in our busy lives. Every October, Mental Health Ireland brings mental wellness to the forefront with Mental Health Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness and encourage proactive steps toward better mental health. This year’s theme is Connect. Throughout the month, we’ll explore different ways to build and strengthen meaningful connections on our social media channels. with each week focusing on a different pillar: YourselfOthersCommunity and Nature.

Why Mental Health Month Matters

Mental Health Month serves as a powerful reminder that mental wellbeing is just as crucial as physical health. For many, mental health challenges are part of everyday life, whether it’s stress, anxiety, or depression. Through open conversations, access to resources, and community support, we can collectively reduce stigma and create a more compassionate society.

Throughout October, Mental Health Ireland offers a wide range of initiatives to engage the public in meaningful ways, from free webinars to opportunities to fundraise for the cause. Here’s how you can get involved:

Free Webinars for Mental Health Awareness

One of the key highlights of Mental Health Month is the availability of our ‘Connect to the Five Ways to Wellbeing’ Webinars. Our facilitators will guide you through each of the Five Ways to Wellbeing and provide practical tips for integrating them into your daily routine. This 45-minute session will be held live every day throughout October, including weekends and bank holidays. Ready to learn how these five actions can make a difference in your life? Choose a day and time that works for you and sign up here.

How You Can Fundraise for Mental Health Ireland

In addition to the educational aspects of Mental Health Month, there are numerous ways you can contribute financially to support our mental health initiatives.

You can Text MHI to 50300 to donate 3 Euro to Mental Health Ireland or you can contact fundraising@mentalhealthireland.ie to organise a fundraiser for us.

Here are some creative ways to fundraise for Mental Health Ireland:

  1. Host a Wellbeing Workshop: If you’re passionate about fitness, mindfulness, or any other wellness activity, consider hosting a workshop with an entry fee that goes directly to Mental Health Ireland. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, or a creative art class, this is a great way to get others involved while raising money for a cause that matters.
  2. Challenge Events: Take part in a physical challenge like a charity run, hike, or cycling event, and invite friends and family to sponsor your efforts. Not only does this promote physical health, but it also raises awareness about mental health and helps fund essential services.
  3. Coffee Morning or Bake Sale: Sometimes the simplest ideas make the biggest impact. Host a coffee morning or bake sale in your local community and donate the proceeds to Mental Health Ireland. These casual events are a wonderful way to bring people together while raising funds for mental health services.
  4. Workplace Fundraisers: Engage your colleagues in fun, team-building activities such as quiz nights, dress-down days, or office challenges. By involving your workplace, you can collectively make a difference and foster a supportive environment where mental health is openly discussed.

Why Your Support Matters

The funds raised during Mental Health Month go toward essential programs that provide support and resources to those in need. From community mental health projects to educational campaigns that reduce stigma, every donation helps. Supporting Mental Health Ireland through fundraising also sends a strong message that mental health is a priority, and we are all committed to creating a society where mental well-being is nurtured.
