Celebrating Mental Health Irelands Solstice Wellbeing Day with Sr. Stan Kennedy
Mental Health Ireland’s (MHI) National Wellbeing Day is celebrated on the summer solstice and this year’s national event takes place on the 20th June at the Labyrinth on the Dublin City University campus at 6.45pm.
MHI is delighted to have Sr. Stan Kennedy participate in the event, sharing a reflection and leading a walking meditation. All present are invited to reflect on their wellbeing and mental health and to and make a wellbeing intention for the year ahead.
Wellbeing is enhanced by social relationships, physical activity, awareness, learning and giving and MHI recommends that building five actions into our day-to-day lives is important for our overall well-being: to connect with others; be active; take notice; keep learning and giving.
Orla Barry, CEO at Mental Health Ireland said “Our Solstice Wellbeing event invites people to take a little time to reflect on what is happening in their lives and to make a wellbeing intention for the coming year. We are delighted to have Sr. Stan Kennedy join us and share a reflection. The event is open to everyone and we look forward to welcoming everybody to the ceremony in DCU.”
Wellbeing Intention cards will be available for everyone to take away to record and keep their Solstice intention. There will be tea/coffee and refreshments served after the ceremony in the Interfaith Centre in DCU.
Louise McDermott will talk to attendees about the Labyrinth and Harpist Madeline Doherty from the National Concert Hall will be providing music to accompany the ceremony.
Parking is available in the DCU/ Helix car park. The Labyrinth is close to the Interfaith Centre.

The MHI Solstice Wellbeing Day will be held on the summer solstice each year. It is a time to stop and think about our wellbeing and how we feel. A time to think about the year gone by and to make a wellbeing intention for the year ahead. To mark this we light our Wellbeing Candle at the moment the summer solstice hits Ireland, a different time each year.
