Hello, How Are You? 

The Mental Health Ireland ‘Hello, How Are You?’ annual campaign aims to enhance connection and belonging, by inspiring individuals to ask how others are feeling. This opens up a conversation to allow people to listen and encourage action by signposting to local supports and services. The 2-hour ‘Hello How Are You?’ workshop blends knowledge and practical skills to empower participants to engage in confident, effective hello How Are You conversations.

Aim of Workshop

The aim of the two hour workshop is to enable participants to use the HELLO How Are You? campaign to support the mental health and wellbeing of their friends, families, workplaces and communities.

Objectives of Workshop

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Describe the HELLO How Are You? Campaign
  • Explain how to use the HELLO framework
  • Initiate and practice HELLO How Are You conversations
  • Identify mental health signposting information
  • Locate information on the HELLO Campaign

Partnership Training

Stronger Minds, Happier Lives Programme

This mental health programme is “by athletes, for athletes” The five-module programme, delivered over 5 weeks in 90-minute workshops, was developed and coproduced with Special Olympics and Mental Health Ireland.

Aim of the Workshop

The aim of the training programme is to support athletes to protect and strengthen their mental health and wellbeing.

Objectives of the Workshop

At the end of the programme, athletes will have:

  • Increased understanding of mental health
  • Explored stress and find what helps to manage it
  • Discovered lots of ways to express their feelings
  • Developed skills to help them cope with difficult or challenging emotions
  • Learned communication techniques for managing tough conversations and for asserting themselves
  • Found out about support services that can help them with their mental health

Mental Health and Family Caring 

This programme is designed to support the supporters of people with mental health challenges. The five-module programme, delivered over 5 weeks in 2-hour workshops, was developed and coproduced with Family Carers Ireland and Mental Health Ireland.

Objectives of the Workshop

At the end of the programme, participants are able to:

  • Have time to reflect on and build tools and techniques to enhance their self-care
  • Expand their understanding of the concepts of mental health, mental illness and recovery
  • Increase awareness around their boundaries with regard to personal wellbeing and the caring role
  • Have an opportunity to learn about and practice communication skills and active listening techniques
  • Learn about supports and services available for those who are caring for family

Shedder’s Building Wellbeing Workshop

As part of the Men’s Sheds ‘Sheds for Life’ Programme, this is a 2-hour workshop and was developed and coproduced with Men’s Shed Association Ireland and Mental Health Ireland.

Aim of the Workshop

To explore knowledge and attitudes related to Mental Health & Wellbeing

Objectives of the Workshop

At the end of the programme, shedders are able to:

  • Define what they think about the term ‘mental health’
  • Recognise ways they can have conversations about mental health
  • Identify ideas on how to take care of themselves.
