Interested in learning more about our Hello, How Are You? campaign and how to have meaningful conversations using the HELLO framework — all in your own time and at your own pace?

Breaking news… we’ve just launched our brand-new interactive e-module!

Designed to be engaging, practical, and easy to follow, this free online module explores the purpose behind the Hello, How Are You? campaign and gives you the tools and confidence to support meaningful conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

At the heart of the module is the H.E.L.L.O. framework — a simple but powerful approach that helps people feel more prepared to check in with someone who may be struggling. Sometimes, starting a conversation can feel intimidating. We might worry about saying the wrong thing, not knowing how to help, or making things awkward. The HELLO framework is designed to remove that pressure by providing a supportive guide for compassionate communication.

The hello framework encourages people to say hello, engage with each other, listen, learn and signpost others to support options

The framework encourages people to:

H — Say Hello
Start with a simple greeting and create an opening for connection. A small moment of kindness or acknowledgement can make someone feel seen and valued.

E — Engage with the person
Take time to genuinely connect. Be present, approachable, and interested in how they are feeling without rushing the conversation.

L — Listen actively
Listening is one of the most important parts of a meaningful conversation. Give the person space to talk, avoid interrupting, and focus on understanding rather than trying to immediately “fix” the situation.

L — Learn what support may help
Everyone’s needs are different. The framework encourages asking gentle questions about what might help and exploring supportive options together.

O — Offer support and encouragement
Sometimes support can simply mean checking in again, helping someone access services, or reminding them they are not alone.

The e-module includes interactive learning, practical examples, and helpful guidance to show how these conversations can happen naturally in everyday life — whether with a friend, family member, colleague, neighbour, or classmate.

Being able to ask “How are you?” with confidence — and really listen to the answer — may seem like a small thing, but it could make a huge difference in someone’s life. Meaningful conversations help reduce stigma, strengthen connections, and remind people that support is available.

One conversation may not solve everything, but it can be the first step towards someone feeling heard, supported, and less alone.

The best part? You can complete the module whenever it suits you, learning at your own pace and revisiting sections whenever needed. Whether you are completely new to conversations around mental health or simply want to build your confidence further, this module is for everyone.

Why not give it a go and take the next step towards creating supportive conversations in your community?
