When an employee is struggling, would you know what to say?

Managers and people leaders are often among the first to notice when an employee may not be doing okay. Knowing how to approach that conversation — and having the confidence to do so in a supportive and appropriate way — can make a real difference.

That’s why Mental Health Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of our Talk About What Matters one-day workshop for managers and people leaders.

Building confidence for meaningful conversations

Talk About What Matters is designed to give managers practical skills and greater confidence when having conversations about mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The workshop will support participants to recognise when someone may be struggling, understand how to start a conversation, listen effectively and respond in a way that is supportive, respectful and appropriate.

It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about knowing how to open up a conversation, listen without judgement and help someone identify the support that may be available to them.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is open to managers, people leaders and those with responsibility for supporting staff across organisations and sectors.

Whether you are an experienced manager or new to a leadership role, the workshop will provide practical tools that you can take back to your workplace.
